Nature Kindergarten 2026: Mandatory Parent Information Sessions this week
Families who are interested in registering their child(ren) for Nature Kindergarten are asked to attend one of the following parent information sessions:
Thursday, January 8th from 6 to 7 pm at Saseenos Elementary
Saturday, January 10th from 10:30 to 11:30 am at Sangster Elementary

Kindergarten Registration Information for Children Born in 2021 | Sooke School District
Parents or guardians can register their child for kindergarten if the child turns 5 years old on or before December 31 of that school year. For example, for the 2026/27 school year, eligible children are those born between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021. There are no exceptions. All kindergarten students must register at their in-catchment school.
Please note we are unable to accept out of district registrations. Please contact your local school district for registration information.

2025/26 Registration
- Regular Kindergarten Registration: On-going
- Please complete the regular registration process to register at your in-catchment school for kindergarten. If your in-catchment kindergarten school is at capacity, students will automatically be enrolled at a designated overflow school.

Opens: January 12 at 8:00 AM
Closes: January 16 at 11:59 PM
French Immersion Kindergarten Registration
Opens: January 12 at 8:00 AM
Closes: January 16 at 11:59 PM
Regular Kindergarten Registration
Opens: January 26 at 8:00 AM
Closes: January 30 at 11:59 PM
January 31 and beyond:
Registrations will continue to be accepted; however, students registering on January 31 will not be included in a lottery (if required) for their in-catchment school. These students may be placed at an overflow school if space is not available.

How to register:
1. Make sure you have the required documents from the checklist linked above ready to upload during registration. Students will not be officially registered until all documentation is uploaded.
Uploading Documents: Don’t have a scanner? Please provide CLEAR photos of the documents. If the document cannot be read clearly, it will not be accepted.

Parents must attend a Nature K information session prior to registration (this is mandatory). For a list of dates, please visit the Nature Kindergarten page.

ONLINE CONSENT PORTAL
• When using the system for the first time, parents must use the front page to request an access number (which acts as their password). This password will be sent to your email.
• Parents use the verification number to gain entry. From there, they can provide consent to the six activities. If your student is not listed, please make sure that the email address used is the same email address your student’s school has on file.
Here are the consents that are available as this time to be collected online:
1. Freshgrade (online tool)
2. GAFE (Student Access to Google Apps for Education)
3. Media Release
4. School Cash Online (KEV)
5. Short (Walking) Field Trips
6. Internet Access
When do the Consents expire?
• Some consents (namely GAFE, KEV, and FreshGrade) expire once a student leaves the district and/or graduates
• Some consents last one school year
• The system tracks the expiry of these consents. To renew a consent year to year (for Internet access, as an example) a parent simply reconnects to the system next school year. The system will note that the consent has expired and will give parents an opportunity to renew their permission.

If you are in Nature Kindergarten and need a copy of the Nature Kindergarten List please e-mail Sangster Office at sangster@sd62.bc.ca
To sign in to MyEducation Parent Portal please go to https://myeducation.gov.bc.ca/ . Be sure to use a desktop or laptop, NOT a mobile device (iPad, cell phone, etc.) for the initial sign in. Use your e-mail you gave to the school for communications as your username and the school generated password you can get from the office. It will prompt you to create your own password at this time and then you will be able to continue using mobile devices if you choose.

Hello Sangster Families!
The Sangster PAC has teamed up once again with Monk Office to offer you School Supply Kits for the 2025-2026 school year. Monk Office has created kits that match the school supply lists created by Sangster Staff. The Sangster PAC gets 10% back from each kit sold, so you are helping the PAC support positive school experiences and enhanced learning opportunities by purchasing these kits. Save time and hassle by ordering online from the comfort of your home. You can choose to have the kit delivered to the school (it will be delivered to your child’s new classroom teacher the first week in September) or you can choose a Monk Office location to pick up the kit yourself.
We were able to keep costs down by making some items optional in the kits. Optional items include scissors, pencisl cases, rulers, pencil sharpeners, and other things you may be able to reuse from previous years. Please note: Your child is required to have all of the items on the school supply kit lists. If you don’t have one of the optional items already at home, please add it to your kit before check out so your child has what they need for the school year.
Order Information for Monk Office School Supply Kits:

- Choose the grade your child will be going into in September 2025
- Enter your Child’s first and last name
- Add any optional items you don’t already have at home/leftover from this year to your kit
- Choose whether you would like school delivery (select “none”) or pick up from a Monk Office store (select which store)
Please place your order by July 18, 2025 to access the discounted prices and to ensure delivery to Sangster in September. If you order after this date, the prices will go up slightly and you will be required to pick up your kit from a Monk Office store.
Kits set for school delivery, will be delivered the first week back in September and will be distributed directly to your child’s teacher once classrooms have been finalized. Students will not need to bring their school supplies to school until they have been placed in thier new classrooms at the end of the first week of school.
If you would prefer to shop for school supplies on your own, the 2025/2026 School supply lists can be found on the Sangster School website. As always, your new teacher in September may require additional items.
