Sangster Elementary is a safe and respectful school environment where exciting learning opportunities are optimized and all students have the opportunity to thrive academically and socially. With a focus on social and emotional well-being, growth mindset, and self-reflective learning, our staff eagerly engage in personal and professional learning to enhance their practices, collaborate on exciting initiatives, and share their passion for teaching and learning by mentoring others. As an administrator, I am fortunate to support the relentless optimism of team whose creativity and innovation engages students and inspires parents and the larger community to be part of the journey.
Sangster has a committed and hard-working parent community. Our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) volunteer their time to organize special events and raise funds for a range of school resources. Our parent and community volunteers regularly assist classrooms with weekly programs, run our safe arrival program, organize the hot lunch program, assist in the library learning commons, and plan seasonal celebrations.
Our school is filled with smiles, laughter, and learning. We combine culture with curiosity and technology with time spent outdoors. Beyond the school grounds, classes regularly utilize the nearby forest to learn and to strengthen their connection with and place in nature. Our commitment to incorporating First Peoples Principles of Learning into teaching practices continues through our Na’tsa’maht Cultural Plan and extensive community engagement. Our students and staff are expanding their technological skills as we raise awareness of responsible digital citizenship.
We thank our families and the community for supporting our culture of learning and collaborating with us to ensure student success!
