Sangster staff and students spent this week until Tuesday, June 8 (215 hours), acknowledging and recognizing the residential school tragedy and recent discovery by the Tk’mlúps te Secwépemc First Nation. We are so fortunate to have amazing Indigenous partners in SD62 and have connected with Elders to seek guidance about how we may proceed as a community and mourn alongside one another.
Sangster shared some opportunities in which to connect, providing space for us to reflect upon the tragic history of residential schools and to continue the healing journey together.
Munro’s virtual bookfair (for Sangster)
If you haven’t had a chance to browse yet, the Munro’s virtual bookfair is live for 1 more day. Visit them in store or online at www.munrobooks.com
Be sure to mention that you are shopping in support of the “Sangster Virtual Book Fair” at check out or in your online order notes.
This is a great opportunity to “stock up on summer reading and support local”.
With recent changes and updates to the health and safety guidelines, the PHO and SD62 are now allowing class photos to take place, outside, before the end of the year. Elementary schools have booked Lifetouch to complete this project. Sangster is booked for Wed, June 9 starting at 9:00am. Good news!
We’re nearing the end of the school year, which means that all library books need to be returned. We would like all the library books back by June 18th at the latest. This way, we have lots of time to organize, process new books, and prepare for next year. Should a book be deemed lost, let me know and we will send along a notice (or an email if you prefer) with the replacement cost attached. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
